FAQ at St. John School in Jackson, Michigan - Catholic Elementary School FAQ 01 Can I get financial aid? St. John offers many forms of financial aid to families. Please see our Tuition and Financial Aid page for more information. 02 Is there a dress code? Yes. Most of our students and parents like the dress code because they do not have to worry about how their clothes compare to everyone else’s and makes getting ready on a daily basis much easier. Uniforms help students focus on their job of learning by eliminating distractions and competition. Click link to view. 03 Do you have to be Catholic to attend? No. All of the Jackson Catholic Schools welcome any student who wants to be a part of our community. 04 What are the school hours? School hours are 8:15 a.m. - 3:20 p.m. Half Days are 8:15 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. 05 Are there before and/or after child care options? Yes. St. John offers before and after school care called Latch Key. Get Involved Parents Get Involved We could not be where we are without the amazing support of our parents and volunteers. At St. John's, we encourage everyone to get involved in their child’s school programs. We offer a wide selection of volunteer opportunities and parent organizations. Virtus Virtus - Protecting God's Children The Diocese of Lansing mandates all school employees and volunteers who come into contact with students to go through Protecting God’s Children training. The Diocese recognizes this program as the most up-to-date, comprehensive safe environments program available today. This can be done online or at a live training. To complete the training online visit http://www.virtusonline.org . Once your training is complete, please print your certificate and send in to the school office. All volunteers must also sign a contract known as the “Volunteer’s Code of Conduct” Learn More Parent & Teacher Organization The PTO is a group of parents committed to enhancing St. John's School. Through fundraising efforts, the PTO helps purchase some of the ‘extras’ for the school, provides networking for St. John's families and appreciation for students and staff. This group meets monthly during the school day for fellowship, to work on projects and to help in the classrooms. Tuition Reduction Incentive Program T.R.I.P What Is T.R.I.P? T.R.I.P. is a great way to reduce your tuition bill by doing your everyday shopping. T.R.I.P is issued in the form of gift cards that can be used just like cash to purchase everyday essentials like food, clothing or gas. All families are encouraged and welcome to participate in T.R.I.P. Getting Started During the school year, TRIP cards are available in the Lumen Christi Main Office from 7:30 to 3:30 Monday through Thursday.
