Book Fair - November 20th - November 30th
In November, the week before Thanksgiving, the library has its annual book fair sponsored by Scholastic Books. It is our biggest fund raiser for the library. The parents utilize our book fair for Christmas shopping. Every year the response for volunteer workers was overwhelming. The students and their families help our sales tremendously. Families purchased books for the classrooms as Christmas gifts for the teachers.
Click here to view the books online at our Scholastic Books website! This site allows parents to view samples of the books at the Book Fair, see the Book Fair Goal, and participate in Special Programs.
Magazine Sale
The magazine sale starts in September and runs for three weeks. The school benefits from this sale by retaining 40% of the cost of each magazine sold. Many materials and resources that are purchased throughout the school year are paid for by this great sale.
1000 Club Raffle
The raffle runs from January through March with the drawing in the school office. Many of our parishioners support this fund raiser as well as our school parents who buy or sell the tickets assigned to them.
Mardi Gras
St. John Elementary School has the best Mardi Gras celebration you can find in Jackson County. It is a fun-filled event held in the Ken Dillon Activity Center on a Saturday evening in February from 5:30pm to 8:00pm. There are games, door prizes, raffle items, and plenty of food. It has been an ongoing event over 10 years. This is a great way to spend a wonderful evening with your family.
Golf Marathon
This event has been very special to St. John School over the years. Golfers have an exciting day of golfing and corporate sponsors join in with their support. The day takes place each May at Hankerd Hills Golf Course near Pleasant Lake. A Victory Dinner concludes the day's activities and rewards the golfers for their efforts and sacrifices in making the event a huge success.
