Technology Program at St. John Elementary
Profile of students use of computers
St. John's classrooms are equipped with 3-6 desktop computers.
Internet (DSL) is provided on 2 computers in each room.
Educational software is provided for students to use on the computers.
The Kindergarten through 5th grades receive 1/2 hour of Tech Lab. They use the lab for keyboarding, computer instructions, and Internet research.
The 6th grade receive 45 min. per week in the lab.
The keyboarding programs vary for each grade and are accompanied with a computer-skill workbook from Scholastic. (Book by grade level)
Kindergarten visits the Tech Lab on Monday and Wednesday to do exercises on the Internet.
All grades may make scheduled time in the Tech Lab for use of the Internet, typing reports, making cards/brochures, make a PowerPoint presentation , and import pictures from the digital cameras.
We share the Lab with JCMS which is on a class time schedule.
An Internet Rules contract and Media release form is sent home with each child . Each child and parent read and sign it. The form is returned to school and kept in their file.
